Cryochamber Sopot Rheumatology Hospital

Whole-Body Cryotherapy – Modern Cold Treatment Technology

The LR KALTETECHNIK cryotherapy chamber is one of the most modern solutions in the field of cold therapy. Unlike traditional methods, cold is generated solely by a refrigeration system—without the use of liquid nitrogen. This is a safe and fully controlled treatment method.

The system consists of three chambers: two preliminary chambers (with temperatures ranging from -10°C to -60°C) and the main chamber, with temperatures ranging from -110°C to -120°C. Passing through zones of progressively lower temperatures safely prepares the body for the therapeutic agent, which is extremely cold air. The entire process is computer-controlled, ensuring precise and safe treatment conditions.

What is whole body cryotherapy?

Whole-body cryotherapy involves the short-term (2–3 minutes) exposure of the entire body to very low temperatures. It has a stimulating effect on the body, triggering a number of positive physiological responses:

  • Analgesic effect – pain relief due to the effect of cold on the nervous, hormonal and metabolic systems
  • Reduced muscle tension – neuromuscular effect
  • Anti-edematous effect
  • Anti-inflammatory effect – statistically confirmed reduction of inflammatory markers (e.g., ESR)
  • Improved blood microcirculation
  • Immune enhancement
  • Mood improvement
  • Biological regeneration

Note: Therapy must always be used as directed by your doctor!

What does the treatment involve?

During the treatment, the patient wears a swimsuit in the chamber. Protect your limbs and head with:

  • a headband or hat,
  • gloves,
  • socks and footwear.

Treatment time: 2–3 minutes, 1–2 times daily.

After exiting the cryochamber, patients perform warm-up exercises (approximately 30 minutes) under the supervision of a therapist. A full treatment series includes 10 to 20 treatments.

The cryochamber is managed by the Pomeranian Rheumatology Center named after Dr. Jadwiga Titz-Kosko in Sopot.

The Sopot pier is one of the most recognisable symbols of the city. Its history begins with the idea of creating a resort in a small fishing village on the Bay of Gdańsk. It was conceived by Jerzy Haffner, a French doctor who settled in Sopot. It was he who initiated the creation of a system of bathing and tourist attractions in Sopot, which also included a pier extending into the sea.
