Punkt obserwacji ptaków morskich - Krynica Morska

The purpose of the Station is to monitor the migration of seabirds, conducted annually from 1 July to 31 October, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Observations cover all species associated with the Baltic Sea – gulls, divers, grebes, waders and others. The data collected at the station is sent to scientific databases and allows changes in the populations of sea-related species to be tracked.

The centre also serves an educational purpose. Anyone can come here, see what the observers do and try their hand at observing. Telescopes, binoculars and educational materials are available on site for visitors to use.

It is also a unique place during storms – you can conduct so-called seawatching, i.e. observing seabirds over the rolling Baltic Sea. On such days, the Point can attract over a hundred people from all over Poland, who come together to look for rare species and enjoy being close to nature. The salty, iodine-rich air and the sound of the sea work better here than many relaxation sessions – it is a real rest for the mind and senses.

You can also join Drapolicz's team. You don't need to be an ornithologist – all you need is curiosity and a willingness to learn. Volunteers help with counting, learn observation methods and, over time, learn to recognise birds in the field. This is a unique opportunity to see what real fieldwork looks like and learn to look at nature more closely.

Participation in the observation is free of charge.
